• 1785 In their first test, the fire engines newly arrived from Europe show they can shoot a stream of water over the highest roof in Salem, North Carolina.
• 1798 The site is staked out for the Salem church, now known as Home Moravian Church.
• 1930 Macedonia’s third place of worship, a brick church, is consecrated.
