The latest issue of Annotations, our occasional newsletter, is being distributed later this month. Clergy and those on our supporters mailing list should get a copy by mail; others can download an issue here from our website when available.
Our new mobile-friendly website is up here at www.moravianarchives.org. Materials about our current churches and fellowships are gathered under the “Our Churches” heading. Help with any corrections to your congregation’s material is appreciated.
Our May 10 Lunchtime lecture at 12:15pm will be by Archivist Eric Elliott on “Archival Resources for Local Historic Preservation and Restoration.” The talk is part of activities for the county’s celebration of Historic Preservation Month. Elliott also speaks at a New Winston Museum forum on historic hotels on May 9, and about the archives at Salemtowne on May 24.
Now on sale – two new publications. Richard Starbuck’s Volume 8 of Records of the Moravians Among the Cherokees covers compelling history from 1828-1830; and Daniel Crews on Bethania: A Fresh look at Its Birth, a reprint of the 1993 booklet on the origins and plan options for the village.
Thanks so much to the eighty plus guests at our Supporters Appreciation Event on April 12. Great music, good food, a beautiful night and good words from Provincial Elders’ Conference President Rev. David Guthrie and Moravian Ministries Foundation in America President and CEO Chris Spaugh.
To celebrate our 1000th Facebook “Like,” we are giving to one of our Facebook friends a copy of the Archives’ produced history of the Moravian Church, Southern Province, “With Courage for the Future” (2002). If you have “liked” the page by April 10, you will be entered into a drawing for a free book on April 12.
