Irene model ship by Robert TuttleThere are three ways the Archives is celebrating the voyages of the ship that transported Moravian settlers from Europe to the New World from 1748-1757. Our first Lunchtime Lecture of the season on Thursday, September 13, will be “Irene – Moravian Mission Ship,” given by Assistant Archivist Nicole Crabbe. The thirty-minute talk will begin at 12:15 pm in the Spaugh Lecture/Recital Hall on the second floor of our Archie K. Davis Building. Then, look for the Archives’ table and items for sale before and after the showing of “Irene – The Musical” at Advent Moravian Church at 2:00 pm on Saturday September 15. And get online your copy of Robert Tuttle’s 2011 booklet on the history of Moravian Ships, a booklet reprinting and refreshing of John Jordan’s 1895 article on Moravian immigration to Pennsylvania in the eighteenth century.
