Irene Month at the Archives

Irene model ship by Robert Tuttle
There are three ways the Archives is celebrating the voyages of the ship that transported Moravian settlers from Europe to the New World from 1748-1757. Our first Lunchtime Lecture of the season on Thursday, September 13, will be “Irene – Moravian Mission Ship,” given by Assistant Archivist Nicole Crabbe. The thirty-minute talk will begin at 12:15 pm in the Spaugh Lecture/Recital Hall on the second floor of our Archie K. Davis Building. Then, look for the Archives’ table and items for sale before and after the showing of “Irene – The Musical” at Advent Moravian Church at 2:00 pm on Saturday September 15. And get online your copy of Robert Tuttle’s 2011 booklet on the history of Moravian Ships, a booklet reprinting and refreshing of John Jordan’s 1895 article on Moravian immigration to Pennsylvania in the eighteenth century.
