January Lunch Lecture on Moravian Music Time Line

Our Lunchtime Lecture on January 9 will be by Moravian Music Foundation Director Rev. Dr. Nola Reed Knouse from 12:15-1:00pm in the Spaugh Lecture/Recital Hall in our offices at the Archie K. Davis Center.  Her topic will be  “A Moravian Music Timeline:  550 Years of Moravian Music.” We will reschedule speaker Richard Starbuck on volume 9 Records Cherokees until the fall. Future talks this semester include: February 13, From Russia with Love (of sacred choral music):  Johann Wilhelm Hässler’s Moravian connections byDavid Blum, Moravian Music Foundation; March 12, “Nurturing the Gardeners of Wachovia,” the third in a series of horticultural exhibits by the Moravian Archives by J. Eric Elliott, Moravian Archives; April 9, Christian Reuter: Moravian GIS Mapper for Forsyth County by Dr. Rod Meyer, former Director, Historic Bethabara Park; May 14, Manuscript Books and Music by David Blum, Moravian Music Foundation.

Visiting Us

Parking is in the northwest corner of the lot at the western end of SR 4326 (Rams Drive) off Salem Avenue. The same street serves as entry to the Elbertson Fine Arts Center at Salem College.  We are currently closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Once we re-open our hours will be Mondays-Thursdays (excepting holidays), 9:30am – noon, 1;30-4:30pm (appointments required). We will be closed to the public on Fridays for records accession work.  We invite you to contact us to plan your visit.
