You may order a copy of any individual memoir remotely for a charge of $10. Additional copies, or additional memoirs on the same order, are $5 each. Memoirs must be in English, and the client must agree to keep the facsimile image of the original for their own personal use and not publish or distribute it. Monies must be received before items are sent; and payment may be made by check, or by credit card at the PayPal link below. Contact our office by phone (336-722-1742) or email (firstname.lastname@example.org) to talk with us before placing your memoir order. We do not have memoirs for all area Moravians – not all orders can be fulfilled. The Archives does not provide copies of memoir in German script.
Researchers may request a memoir be translated. The Archives policy for translation of memoirs is this: A client must specifically request that a memoir be translated. The Archives would then have one of its translators undertake the project. All costs of a memoir translation must be borne by the client making the request. The fee is $.20 per word + 10% Archives fee ($10 minimum). An estimate on the costs cannot be given; however, experience has shown that costs could range up to $75 or more, depending on the length and difficulty of the translation work. The Archives would retain all rights to a translation, but would provide the client with a photocopy of it. Translated items will not be released until full payment has been received. The Archives maintains usage rights and copies of all translated material. Reproductions or images of our holdings made by you or us at our facility are made for private study and reference only. Permission of Moravian Archives, Winston-Salem is required for uses exceeding this “fair use.” Researchers acknowledge that they are solely responsible for determining the copyright status of the materials they use.
