Research Services Archivist Hired!
The Moravian Archives for the Southern Province is pleased to announce that Samantha Tullis has been chosen as the new Research Services Archivist.
Samantha Tullis began her role as the Research Services Archivist for the Archives of the Southern Province on January 6, 2025. Previously, she served as the Adult Services Librarian and Communications Manager at the Meredith Public Library in Meredith, New Hampshire, while completing her Master of Library and Information Science degree at Simmons University. Samantha earned her degree in May 2024, with a concentration in Archives Management and a Preservation Track, graduating magna cum laude. During her time at Simmons, she was selected from among hundreds of applicants to participate in an international librarianship study abroad program in Paris, hosted by EastCarolina University, where she engaged with global archival practices and explored international repositories.
Her passion for historical preservation and German history led her to secure a national grant from the American Library Association in partnership with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. This grant facilitated the successful execution of a six-week traveling exhibition on World War II, accompanied by 13 educational programs. Her expertise in grant writing and project coordination has been instrumental in advancing archival initiatives and fostering community engagement.
In her previous roles, Samantha has led community outreach efforts, developed innovative programming, and managed diverse collections. Her work in collection development has included vendor relations, cataloging, and implementing preservation strategies to ensure the long-term accessibility of materials.
Samantha also holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, graduating magna cum laude and earning induction into the International English Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta.
Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, she now resides in Lexington, North Carolina, where she continues to nurture connections between people and history through her work in archives and special collections. Samantha’s dedication to preservation, community outreach, and promoting access to archival materials defines her approach to her role as Research Services Archivist.
