Books and Periodicals
While the Moravian Archives is more known for our manuscript and archival collections, we have extensive holdings in books and periodicals. There are two collections – one is our Research Library, which is available next to our Reading Room for people to use as desired and the other is our rare book collection, which is held in the Vault and must be requested for use in the Reading Room. Neither collection is circulating, but only the rare book collection requires a research appointment.
Thanks to the generosity of the Moravian Music Foundation, the Research Library is cataloged and searchable online. The rare book collection is not cataloged, but there is an inventory available that documents a significant portion of these holdings. In the future, the Archives plans to have our own identity through OCLC and a full catalog of both collections.
