Collection Work Weeks

Each year, the Archives closes its doors for up to two weeks to dedicate staff time to making our collections more accessible through rehousing, stacks moves and reorganization, digitization, and arrangement and description. This type of work happens throughout the year in the middle of other duties, such as welcoming researchers to the Reading Room, creating and hosting archives-related events, and answering questions remotely. However, it can be difficult to make significant headway on a collection project when the work is done in sprints rather than a marathon. An hour here and there is better than nothing, but a dedicated eight-hour day is priceless.

We hope you will understand this closure and enjoy the benefits of staff dedicating time to improving collection access!
