Archives Advocates Program

Preserve History. Advocate for the Archives.

The Southern Province of the Moravian Church has a rich history, carefully documented by each congregation. The Archives Advocates Program revives the traditional role of church archivist, empowering members to preserve their congregation’s records and promote the Archives across the province.

Why Become an Archives Advocate?

  • Serve as the key liaison between your congregation and the Archives.

  • Help ensure that vital church records are preserved for future generations.

  • Promote awareness of the Archives and its resources within your community.

  • Connect with other Advocates across the Southern Province.

Your Role

As an Archives Advocate, you will:

  • Maintain and organize your congregation’s archival records.

  • Transfer appropriate records to the Southern Province Archives.

  • Serve as an advocate for the Archives within your congregation.

  • Be a point of contact for the Archives team regarding record-keeping questions.

How to Get Involved

  1. Submit Your Interest
    Fill out the Archives Advocates Submission Form by October 31.

  2. Attend an Informational Meeting
    Join via Zoom to learn more about the program and your responsibilities.

  3. Orientation & Vault Tour
    Selected Advocates are invited to an orientation at the Archives, including a vault tour and lunch.
